Florae was designed for a dense urban neighbourhood in Bangalore. Instead of choosing cautious and studied methods to situate the building into its environment, we decided to follow a more direct course that fused functional programming with impulsive abstractionism - to create an unexpected and iconic architectural intervention. Our design accommodates four compact apartments stacked one above the other. On three sides, the floor plates extend outwards as green troughs managed by the owners. The structure is sheathed in a perforated enclosure with profiled cut-outs for diffused daylight, and engineered to mitigate dust and noise.
